About Me
I'm Carol Kneedler, the owner and primary developer of O3 Consulting. Please read about my business experience and skills below. I also work with other web designers, developers and computer / networking companies, and I'll be adding links to their websites in the future.
O3 Internet Consulting
In August of 2007, I opened O3 Internet Consulting for business. O3 specializes in web consulting for small and medium sized businesses and non-profit organizations, providing research, analysis, website planning, project management, website implementation and support for web-based solutions.
Business Management
From 2000 to July, 2007, I worked with a team of professional website designers and developers at LRS Web Services: five years as the division manager, one as a web application programmer and one as a project manager and information architect. I was responsible for profit and loss, staffing, marketing and sales. I understand the everyday challenges business owners face. In addition, I have first-hand knowledge of security risks, web processes and the multiple disciplines required to create an effective web presence.
I have owned several small businesses. I believe in hard work, and I am a "practical perfectionist". I value long-term relationships and understand the importance of reputation and character for business success.
Website Development, Usability, Information Architecture
While at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL, I created an intranet-based workflow system with significant usability and user group testing and training. I completed my M.A. in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Springfield with specific focus on usability and testing.
I've worked in web development for more than 10 years. I understand that change is inevitable, but the implications of change need to be evaluated and risks managed. You want to avoid mistakes, rework and expensive and time-consuming maintenance. My work and recommendations are grounded in technical expertise and practical business judgment to help you make well-informed decisions.
Software Analysis and Programming
For six years, I worked as a professional programmer, first at Franklin Life Insurance Company (now American General) supporting agent commissions and mutual fund EDI processing, and then at Prudential Home Mortgage (now Wells Fargo) supporting mortgage banking business units.
I have experience with a variety of businesses and non-profits. I understand that one size does not fit all and the importance of listening to and really hearing your needs and goals. I can understand and empathize with your unique needs and provide solutions that fit you.
Non-Profit
I support local and national non-profit organizations and am a member of several professional organizations, including the Association for Computing Machinery, the MacArthur Boulevard Business Association and the Capital Area Independent Business Alliance. I believe I have a responsibility to give back to the community that supports me and to use my skills to help make the world a better place.
